<br />
Over the course of the next week or so I plan to write a post about each meeting.<span style="font-size: large;"> I'd like to start with our meeting with Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (NC 5th District) and her LA. </span><br />
<br />
We went into this meeting knowing that Virginia Foxx has not been supportive of defunding Obamacare, so I expected her to be negative, but I really wasn't prepared for what she had to say.<br />
<br />
Almost immediately her LA (a girl not much older than myself) began complaining to us about all of the phone calls they've received from all of "those tea party people". They said that people were calling them and asking them to explain why it couldn't be defunded! She grumbled about how explaining it to people would take 15 minutes.<br />
<br />
At this point I was getting pretty ticked off, because seriously?! <b>IT'S THEIR JOB</b> to explain things to their constituents. How dare they complain about it to other constituents? I was appalled at the rude behavior that the Congresswoman and her Aide were displaying.<br />
<br />
No matter how many questions we asked her, she changed the subject or looked towards her LA for the answer. It was disheartening, and I was still a little mad about the earlier comments when Mrs. Foxx said something that I absolutely couldn't believe.<br />
<br />
One of my friends mentioned that we met with Senator Ted Cruz earlier in the day, and Mrs. Foxx all but rolled her eyes, and then said: "<i><span style="font-size: large;">Senator Cruz has brainwashed people.</span></i>" I was shocked. <b>Absolutely shocked</b>. When one republican representative openly tears down another republican representative in front of her constituents, it leaves you a little flabbergasted. She went on to say that Mike Lee and Ted Cruz are just deflecting attention from the Senate because she says they can't deliver.<br />
<br />
I was shocked, and I was also very upset to see this kind of division in the party.<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">And above all, I was very disappointed in Congresswoman Virigina Foxx. </span>Hannah Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05105613412912788381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6502858132266189193.post-61487744571912646572012-08-20T09:01:00.002-07:002012-08-20T09:24:40.543-07:00So much for choices!<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 18px;">In this new tv add (which some of you have undoubtedly seen) the Obama Campaign attacks Romney/Ryan on their pro life views. If you haven't seen it on TV, you should <span style="font-size: large;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6MTwBlJk5E&feature=player_embedded" target="_blank">watch it here</a></span>. <a href="http://www.mittromney.com/issues/values">a<span style="font-family: Courier New, Courier, monospace;">bortion and birth control</span></a>. <span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And then </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;">they ask the question: <b>"He's made his choice; but what choices will women be left with?"</b></span><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;"><b> </b></span><br />
<br />
<div class="text_exposed_show" style="background-color: white; display: inline;">
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;">Well, <i>Mr. President</i>, you care so much about<span style="font-size: large;"> <i>choice</i></span>? Then why will it become MANDATORY for people to accept ObamaCare, either paying for insurance or paying an extremely large fine? (read the healthcare bill)<br /><br />I will be seventeen next year when ObamaCare would go into affect, and I will be eighteen only a year later. What choices will I (as a<b> woman</b>) be left with pertaining healthcare? I will be forced (definition: not done voluntarily) into <span style="font-size: large;">paying for healthcare</span> or <span style="font-size: large;">paying a large fine</span>. </span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;">Oh wait a minute; what was that you just said about <span style="font-size: large;">Women's choices</span>? <span style="font-size: large;">where I come from, <i>Mr. President</i>, that is called hypocrisy</span>.</span> </div>
<span style="color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 18px;">How would it be <i>more affordable</i> for me (or another hypothetical woman [say, </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 18px;">

<br />
<br />
<div class="text_exposed_show" style="background-color: white; color: #333333; display: inline; line-height: 18px;">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">But then: <span style="font-size: large;">"He's </span>(Obama)<span style="font-size: large;"> made his choice; but what choices will women be left with?" </span>actually, </span><b style="background-color: white; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I am against birth control. </b><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">However </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">at the moment I am speaking for Julia. Without going into to many details [you ought to do the research yourself!] I'm going to skim over what I believe about it...<br /><br />Basically,<span style="font-size: large;"> the amendment isn't adding anything new</span>. <b>*Newsflash*</b><span style="font-size: x-large;"> </span><i>The Marriage amendment is already in our state constitution</i>, they are only trying to define that marriage be between a man and a woman.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">Some on the Left are saying it will </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">hurt women and children.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: x-small;">Some on the Right are saying they </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">hate gay people.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Then there's me.. and the rest of the people who fall between, and just say "<span style="font-size: x-small;">What the heck</span>?".</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm <span style="font-size: large;">just saying</span>, hasn't marriage between a man and a woman worked for this many years? Why change it now? Plus, the way I see it, letting marriage be between two women, or two men, will <span style="font-size: large;">hurt the children.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I mean, I'm sorry, I don't care how you look at it, if hundreds of years of gay marriages happen, eventually the population will seriously take a turn for the worse. All of that to say, <span style="font-size: large;">i don't understand how they could say it would <b>hurt the children</b></span>.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So, as for me...</span><br />

On YouTube.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The video outlines all of the things the Administration has "accomplished" while Obama has been in office. Assuming that all of the things he said were true [<i><span style="font-size: large;">which, I'm not</span></i>], why would he need to make a video campaign for it? Shouldn't his actions be enough to make someone want to re-vote him? Not a video playing a tune on the heart strings of America? </span><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Part of the caption under the YouTube video says: <i>Responsibility is Rewarded</i> </span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Why, yes. Yes it is.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Unfortunately for them, responsibility isn't taking over credit card companies and lowering "unnecessary" fees [<i>since when has that been the President's job, anyway?</i>] responsibility isn't using the death of Bin Laden as a campaigning tool... [ <i>and getting slammed by the Navy SEALs too </i></span><i><a href="http://www.ijreview.com/2012/05/4647-navy-seals-slam-obama-over-bin-laden-campaign-ad/">source</a>] </i><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b><span style="font-size: large;">Responsibility isn't being responsible for everyone else</span> </b><span style="font-size: large;"><i>when you aren't even being responsible with what you have been put in charge of</i>.</span><br /><b style="font-style: italic;"><br />That kind of "responsibility" is going to take away everyone else's need to be responsible. </b>Isn't that a bit purpose defeating? Apparently the Administration wants the whole of society to look to the President to be responsible for the actions of over 307 million people. Tell me again<span style="font-size: large;"> how is that responsible</span>?<br /><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The video makes me feel a little bit sick to my stomach. There are just too many lies, and too much bad logic. </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Any chance that President Barack Obama had of gaining <i>my</i> support [to be honest he didn't have a chance anyway] was shot with this video.<br /><br />Unfortunately I can't speak for the rest of you. Watch the video. Think on both sides of the story, don't jump to hasty conclusions and don't believe everything that you hear, or watch, or even everything you read.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Just watch the video.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Draw your own conclusions. Feel free to discuss them below.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Unlike the majority of teenagers in this country, I choose to keep up with the presidential candidates and politics and [*gasp*] even the news! Why?</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Well, whether I'm old enough to vote or not, don't I still live in this country? Shouldn't this country be as valuable to me as it is [or should be] to the legal adults? </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It really does bother me when people say things like; "I'm not old enough to vote, so I don't really care.", "It doesn't really affect me..." etc. etc. etc.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Yeah, well, when the country is being flushed down the toilet when you <b>ARE </b>"<i>old enough</i>" to care, you'll only have your own teenage apathy to thank for that. Later on in life, when things aren't going your way politically I don't <b>even</b> want to hear about it. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Now I have a little something to say about the presidential candidates.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Fact: <b>they are all politicians</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Fact <span style="font-size: x-small;">[this one is a shocker!]</span>: <b>they don't care as much for your personal well being as for their own. </b>After all, despite popular belief, politicians are not another species. They are all still flawed, selfish human beings. Just like you and I. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Fact: <b>they <span style="font-size: large;">all </span>have an agenda.</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I am incredibly sick of all these people parading their favorite candidate like he's a god, and treating the others like the anti-christ. Even your precious [*<i>insert candidate name here</i>*] has made mistakes. Even your least favorite [*<i>insert candidate name here</i>*] has probably done <i>something</i> good before.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It's one thing to have a preferred or favorite candidate, but it's another to distastefully insult the opposing contenders. Come on, you're all <b>legal adults</b>. Can't you be mature about it?</span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">That is all.</span></div>Hannah Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05105613412912788381noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6502858132266189193.post-88133776069840042942012-03-16T21:50:00.000-07:002012-03-17T07:33:06.070-07:00Kony or Phony?<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">In the past week or two I've noticed a quickly growing trend in the Stop Kony/Invisible Children movement. There are a startling number of teenagers being drawn into it, changing their Facebook and Twitter avatars and banners to various different 'Stop Kony 2012' messages, surely you've seen them.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD84TTkk7xrdr8HgGgZkEMwboisvyvHzFdAYCs786Wu1z0eA0e47yqCXE04F7JiKRHpfG6hSO2YLAKk_QcLrd4DTxEX5xT8IUeSPXTbIC-ZxRL0rISbWu56t0PH3pD_hMLq2wLMW16welW/s1600/kony-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="176" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD84TTkk7xrdr8HgGgZkEMwboisvyvHzFdAYCs786Wu1z0eA0e47yqCXE04F7JiKRHpfG6hSO2YLAKk_QcLrd4DTxEX5xT8IUeSPXTbIC-ZxRL0rISbWu56t0PH3pD_hMLq2wLMW16welW/s400/kony-1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Everyone was immediately sucked in by the touching, heartfelt video. Especially the teenagers. Myself, as a teen, understand how our minds work, even if we don't realize it. A large amount of us seem to assume that if some "cause" has a 30 minute long, heartfelt video with cool effects, it must be legit! Right? Wrong!</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> <br />In just a little over a week the Kony video on Youtube [</span> <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Y4MnpzG5Sqc">video</a> <span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">] got over 80 million views! The facebook group alone has 3.1 million fans. Do you understand the impact that one video can have with 80 million viewers? A sentence in their own 'Company Overview' has frightening implications; "<span style="background-color: white; line-height: 14px; text-align: left;"><b>We use the power of media to inspire young people...</b>" [</span></span> <a href="http://www.facebook.com/invisiblechildren/info">quote source</a> <span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">]<br /></span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />I've really spent a lot of time looking into this whole Invisible Children thing. The <i>lack</i> of information about them on the internet is certainly something to consider.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The Invisible Children are a non-profit group, but they do accept donations. I can't find a <i>reliable</i> statistic about the [non?] profit they bring in, but the few that I've seen are certainly eye-brow raising. I do know that several of my own acquaintances have donated to the cause. There is absolutely no information anywhere online about what The Invisible Children plan to do with the money they receive. Ironically, much of the important information that any Non-Profit group should provide, is <i>invisible</i>. </span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I can't see that their group makes any sense. Their mission statement says; "<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 14px; text-align: left;"><b>Invisible Children uses film, creativity and social action to end the use of child soldiers in Joseph Kony's rebel war and restore LRA-affected communities in Central Africa to peace and prosperity.</b>" [ </span></span><a href="http://www.facebook.com/invisiblechildren/info">source</a> <span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">]</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">They are supposedly using their video to end the LRA [Lords Resistance Army], and are asking for donations, yet they show no proof of <i>donating</i> to anyone! They just want to make more videos to 'inspire young people'.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This evening I learned a little bit about the founder Jason Russel. He is a 33 year movie director, and there seems to be absolutely no information about his past on the internet. In fact, the only thing I can find about him is a 'twitter trending' news report that on March 15th 2012 [this past Thursday] he was found roaming the streets of San Deigo. I wish I could say he was only roaming, but he was nearly nude, engaging in sexual activities and vandalizing cars! </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">[ </span><a href="http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2012/03/16/kony-2012-activist-reportedly-found-roaming-streets-nearly-naked-after/">source</a> <span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">]</span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> A CEO at Invisible Children, Ben Keesy, said that he was suffering from 'Exhaustion, dehydration and malnutrition.' [ </span><a href="http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2012/03/16/kony-2012-activist-reportedly-found-roaming-streets-nearly-naked-after/">source</a> <span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">]. He is still hospitalized as of today.</span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Am I the only one who thinks it's funny that this occurred exactly 10 days after the release of the Kony '12 video? Am I the only one who wonders why millions of people are involved in the movement of an apparently unstable movie director? </span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Do you recall the little sayings that your Mother used to quote? <b>Don't take candy from strangers </b>and <b>don't believe everything you hear</b>.<br /><br /><br /><span style="font-size: large;">What do <i>you</i> think? Kony or Phony?</span></span>Hannah Gracehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05105613412912788381noreply@blogger.com1
