Congresswoman Virgina Foxx : "Ted Cruz is brainwashing people!"

This week I went on a trip with my friends and family to Washington D.C to ask my representatives, and other members of congress, to please defund Obamacare.

Over the course of the next week or so I plan to write a post about each meeting. I'd like to start with our meeting with Congresswoman Virginia Foxx (NC 5th District) and her LA. 

We went into this meeting knowing that Virginia Foxx has not been supportive of defunding Obamacare, so I expected her to be negative, but I really wasn't prepared for what she had to say.

Almost immediately her LA (a girl not much older than myself) began complaining to us about all of the phone calls they've received from all of "those tea party people". They said that people were calling them and asking them to explain why it couldn't be defunded! She grumbled about how explaining it to people would take 15 minutes.

At this point I was getting pretty ticked off, because seriously?! IT'S THEIR JOB to explain things to their constituents. How dare they complain about it to other constituents? I was appalled at the rude behavior that the Congresswoman and her Aide were displaying.

No matter how many questions we asked her, she changed the subject or looked towards her LA for the answer. It was disheartening, and I was still a little mad about the earlier comments when Mrs. Foxx said something that I absolutely couldn't believe.

One of my friends mentioned that we met with Senator Ted Cruz earlier in the day, and Mrs. Foxx all but rolled her eyes, and then said: "Senator Cruz has brainwashed people." I was shocked. Absolutely shocked. When one republican representative openly tears down another republican representative in front of her constituents, it leaves you a little flabbergasted. She went on to say that Mike Lee and Ted Cruz are just deflecting attention from the Senate because she says they can't deliver.

I was shocked, and I was also very upset to see this kind of division in the party.
And above all, I was very disappointed in Congresswoman Virigina Foxx. 

So much for choices!

In this new tv add (which some of you have undoubtedly seen) the Obama Campaign attacks Romney/Ryan on their pro life views. If you haven't seen it on TV, you should watch it here. In the video, the Obama campaign plays yet another tune on the heartstrings of America.

They make several points pertaining to Paul Ryan's opposing views on ObamaCare (links to Paul Ryan's roadmap for America) and Mitt Romney's views on 

abortion and birth control. And then they ask the question: "He's made his choice; but what choices will women be left with?" 

Well, Mr. President, you care so much about choice? Then why will it become MANDATORY for people to accept ObamaCare, either paying for insurance or paying an extremely large fine? (read the healthcare bill)

I will be seventeen next year when ObamaCare would go into affect, and I will be eighteen only a year later. What choices will I (as a woman) be left with pertaining healthcare? I will be forced (definition: not done voluntarily) into paying for healthcare or paying a large fine. 

Oh wait a minute; what was that you just said about Women's choices? where I come from, Mr. President, that is called hypocrisy. 

How would it be more affordable for me (or another hypothetical woman [say,  Julia]) to pay for health care (that she really might not have money for) or pay a large fine (which she would also not have money for) than to pay for something like, say,  Birth Control? did you know that the price for the average box of birth control pills is $10.00? Somehow I'm thinking that birth control would be a lot cheaper than his healthcare.

But then: "He's (Obama) made his choice; but what choices will women be left with?" actually, I am against birth control. However at the moment I am speaking for Julia. If the President really cared that much about Julia's rights, wouldn't he put a bit more thought into the healthcare mandate?

We do live in this country where we are incredibly blessed to be FREE, but don't forget that even though our freedom was won 236 years ago with the signing of the Deceleration of Independence, it is still being threatened today by those within our government.  Our government was only to be instituted among men with the CONSENT of the governed. A huge amount of the governed don't agree (see definition of Consent in the dictionary) with the HHS Mandate that was passed by the SCOTUS last week. I am not yet old enough to vote, but I ask all of you to please go vote this November. This mandate is completely AGAINST our Deceleration of FREEDOM! It is destructive to the ends of LIFE (by providing abortion in healthcare) and LIBERTY (by forcing everyone to comply to this TAX) and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS (by compromising our freedoms). 

YOU can be a change!

I mean, really. Why can't people express their opinions considerately?

Had a conservative person done this to a photograph of, Obama or JFK, they would probably be in jail now.

I would recommend watching it before continuing this post.
The video [flash? game? what would you call it?] goes over 12 age groups of the hypothetical life of a woman raised totally dependent on the government. [Refer to responsibility discussion from Obama's last campaign ]

The slides were probably made in hopes that you would get a warm and fuzzy feeling about this perfect [perfectly false] life, then get mad at Mitt Romney for opposing such a "perfect" plan. Then you will naturally want to support Obama, because you know, he "genuinely cares about our well-being". 


But really, I could go on all day.
If you came to read this you might have been expecting me to go more in depth about my own opinions, but it seems the Heritage Foundation has captured my own opinion beautifully.   


So, you might as well watch [read?] their brilliant retaliation, aptly titled a Better Life for Julia.

Amendment One

So there's a big to-do about the Marriage Amendment here in NC. Without going into to many details [you ought to do the research yourself!] I'm going to skim over what I believe about it...

Basically, the amendment isn't adding anything new. *Newsflash* The Marriage amendment is already in our state constitution, they are only trying to define that marriage be between a man and a woman.


Some on the Left are saying it will hurt women and children.
Some on the Right are saying they hate gay people.
Then there's me.. and the rest of the people who fall between, and just say "What the heck?".


I'm just saying, hasn't marriage between a man and a woman worked for this many years? Why change it now? Plus, the way I see it, letting marriage be between two women, or two men, will hurt the children.


I mean, I'm sorry, I don't care how you look at it, if hundreds of years of gay marriages happen, eventually the population will seriously take a turn for the worse. All of that to say, i don't understand how they could say it would hurt the children.


So, as for me...

The Vote is on May 8th.

The Obama administration has launched a new video campaign. On YouTube.
The video outlines all of the things the Administration has "accomplished" while Obama has been in office. Assuming that all of the things he said were true [which, I'm not], why would he need to make a video campaign for it? Shouldn't his actions be enough to make someone want to re-vote him? Not a video playing a tune on the heart strings of America? 

Part of the caption under the YouTube video says: Responsibility is Rewarded 

Why, yes. Yes it is.

Unfortunately for them, responsibility isn't taking over credit card companies  and lowering "unnecessary" fees [since when has that been the President's job, anyway?] responsibility isn't using the death of Bin Laden as a campaigning tool... [ and getting slammed by the Navy SEALs too source] 

Responsibility isn't being responsible for everyone else when you aren't even being responsible with what you have been put in charge of.

That kind of "responsibility" is going to take away everyone else's need to be responsible. Isn't that a bit purpose defeating? Apparently the Administration wants the whole of society to look to the President to be responsible for the actions of over 307 million people. Tell me again how is that responsible?


The video makes me feel a little bit sick to my stomach. There are just too many lies, and too much bad logic. Any chance that President Barack Obama had of gaining my support [to be honest he didn't have a chance anyway] was shot with this video.

Unfortunately I can't speak for the rest of you. Watch the video. Think on both sides of the story, don't jump to hasty conclusions and don't believe everything that you hear, or watch, or even everything you read.

Politics

I'm not old enough to vote.

Unlike the majority of teenagers in this country, I choose to keep up with the presidential candidates and politics and [*gasp*] even the news! Why?

Well, whether I'm old enough to vote or not, don't I still live in this country? Shouldn't this country be as valuable to me as it is [or should be] to the legal adults? It really does bother me when people say things like; "I'm not old enough to vote, so I don't really care.", "It doesn't really affect me..." etc. etc. etc.

Yeah, well, when the country is being flushed down the toilet when you ARE "old enough" to care, you'll only have your own teenage apathy to thank for that. Later on in life, when things aren't going your way politically I don't even want to hear about it. 

Now I have a little something to say about the presidential candidates.

Fact: they are all politicians

Fact [this one is a shocker!]: they don't care as much for your personal well being as for their own. After all, despite popular belief, politicians are not another species. They are all still flawed, selfish human beings. Just like you and I. 

Fact: they all have an agenda.

I am incredibly sick of all these people parading their favorite candidate like he's a god, and treating the others like the anti-christ. Even your precious [*insert candidate name here*] has made mistakes. Even your least favorite [*insert candidate name here*] has probably done something good before.

It's one thing to have a preferred or favorite candidate, but it's another to distastefully insult the opposing contenders. Come on, you're all legal adults. Can't you be mature about it?

That is all.

Kony or Phony?

In the past week or two I've noticed a quickly growing trend in the Stop Kony/Invisible Children movement. There are a startling number of teenagers being drawn into it, changing their Facebook and Twitter avatars and banners to various different 'Stop Kony 2012' messages, surely you've seen them.

Everyone was immediately sucked in by the touching, heartfelt video. Especially the teenagers. Myself, as a teen, understand how our minds work, even if we don't realize it. A large amount of us seem to assume that if some "cause" has a 30 minute long, heartfelt video with cool effects, it must be legit! Right? Wrong!

In just a little over a week the Kony video on Youtube [ video ] got over 80 million views! The facebook group alone has 3.1 million fans. Do you understand the impact that one video can have with 80 million viewers? A sentence in their own 'Company Overview' has frightening implications; "We use the power of media to inspire young people..." [ quote source ]

I've really spent a lot of time looking into this whole Invisible Children thing. The lack of information about them on the internet is certainly something to consider.


The Invisible Children are a non-profit group, but they do accept donations. I can't find a reliable statistic about the [non?] profit they bring in, but the few that I've seen are certainly eye-brow raising. I do know that several of my own acquaintances have donated to the cause. There is absolutely no information anywhere online about what The Invisible Children plan to do with the money they receive. Ironically, much of the important information that any Non-Profit group should provide, is invisible. 


I can't see that their group makes any sense. Their mission statement says; "Invisible Children uses film, creativity and social action to end the use of child soldiers in Joseph Kony's rebel war and restore LRA-affected communities in Central Africa to peace and prosperity." [ source ]


They are supposedly using their video to end the LRA [Lords Resistance Army], and are asking for donations, yet they show no proof of donating to anyone! They just want to make more videos to 'inspire young people'.




This evening I learned a little bit about the founder Jason Russel. He is a 33 year movie director, and there seems to be absolutely no information about his past on the internet. In fact, the only thing I can find about him is a 'twitter trending' news report that on March 15th 2012 [this past Thursday] he was found roaming the streets of San Deigo. I wish I could say he was only roaming, but he was nearly nude, engaging in sexual activities and vandalizing cars! [ source ] A CEO at Invisible Children, Ben Keesy, said that he was suffering from 'Exhaustion, dehydration and malnutrition.' [ source ]. He is still hospitalized as of today.


Am I the only one who thinks it's funny that this occurred exactly 10 days after the release of the Kony '12 video? Am I the only one who wonders why millions of people are involved in the movement of an apparently unstable movie director? 


Do you recall the little sayings that your Mother used to quote? Don't take candy from strangers and don't believe everything you hear.
